https://f-droid.org/F-Droid.apk initial install broken

I got a new device and installed f-droid from the website. It updated the index, I could install a single app, but when I started f-drodi again afterwards I got only an empty app and category list (probably this: fdroidclient#1757 (closed)).

Solving this required clearing app data, downloading the index again and immediately upgrading f-droid to the latest release.

I reinstalled that device multiple times and this happened every single time.

We should switch https://f-droid.org/F-Droid.apk to 1.8 really soon...
