[UriError]: Scheme contains illegal characters on bottom bar MR/issue click

Summary

Starting in 3.18.0, my bottom bar button stopped working for both MR and Issue.
Both give me [UriError]: Scheme contains illegal characters

It works fine in 3.17.1 or less. The command pallette GitLab: open merge request for current branch also still works fine

I'm on my own hosted gitlab instance and I haven't gotten it working for both my instance and gitlab.com

Steps to reproduce

1. Open any branch
2. click GitLab: MR !X

What is the current bug behavior?

[UriError]: Scheme contains illegal characters

What is the expected correct behavior?

Opens the MR

Relevant logs and/or screenshots

GitLab: Show extension logs isn't pulling anything up. Sorry.
