Add support for Jenkins 'GitLab Plugin'?

Currently, our Jenkins integration uses the 'GitLab Hook Plugin' - http://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Gitlab+Hook+Plugin

A newer plugin called the 'GitLab Plugin' seems to be gaining a lot of momentum - http://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Gitlab+Plugin. This plugin will soon have support for the commit status API, too. Given it's popularity and the support for commit status API, can we consider adding 'native' support for this?

Questions

Would we cut over, or add this integration along side the current 'GitLab Hook Plugin' support? We don't want to break existing user's set up. Maybe we can add a dropdown to choose which plugin to use?
