Design: Security & Compliance page for core users
Problem to solve
The current landing page (which the Growth team implemented in an experiment) for the Security & Compliance page for core/ non-Ultimate users has proven very effective, but some of the screenshots are outdated and we want to let core users know that SAST and Secret Detection have moved to down to core and are available to them. We'd like to bring attention to this by including the information on this Security Discover page, in addition to the incentive to upgrade (and/or start a free trial) so that more users see the value that GitLab's Secure features have to offer.
Intended users
User experience goal
- Show users the value of current Ultimate security features
- Inform users that SAST and Secret Detection are now part of core/ non-Ultimate
Proposal
1. Keep Security Configuration page, with the following changes:
- Update screenshots
- Add an "info" alert which includes a link to the Configuration page (see image below)
Current design
Proposed designs
2. Add a Configuration page, where user can enable SAST from within the UI. Clicking Upgrade or free trial
text link takes user back to Security Dashboard page.
What does success look like, and how can we measure that?
TBD
What is the type of buyer?
Core, Starter, Premium (self-managed) and Free, Bronze, and Silver (Gitlab.com) accounts
Is this a cross-stage feature?

Questions/ Considerations
- Do we/ can we consider A/B testing two design variations?
