Document how to migrate from Unified approval rules to Multiple approval rules
The UI switch from Unified approval rules to Multiple approval rules might be considered as a breaking change for users of Unified approval rules. Moreover, these users might be less familiar with GitLab APIs (otherwise they might prefer Multiple approval rules).
To support their migrations, we plan to provide automatic migration, a potentially breaking change. To avoid breaking users' workflows we should provide preliminary support instead.
User problems
- I am used to manage unified approval rules through the UI, they are gone. What should I do?
- I want to migrate from unified approval rules to multiple approval rules
Proposal
Create step-by-step documentation on how to migrate using the API from Universal approval rules to Multiple approval rules.
Preferably provide a script/snippet that users can use with a valid Personal Access Token. The script should report on Unified approval rules settings that are not compatible with Multiple approval rules.
