Merge request diff summaries generated are random numbers, letters, or words

Background

We received feedback in #408726 (comment 1582393228) that some diff summaries are just random letters, words or numbers that don't make sense at all. Most of the MRs reported that show that behavior have collapsed diffs and looks large so that may be the reason why.
