I'm Sunjung, a Staff Product Designer in the Pipeline Authoring group at GitLab. Starting in May 2024, I am also a part-time MBA student at Tomorrow University of Applied Sciences.

What I believe in

I believe that integrity and a commitment to the common good are essential for creating great products. I am passionate about working with others who share these values to build solutions that truly make a difference.

How I prefer to work

• I strive to maintain high standards in my work and expect my co-workers to collaborate with me to achieve the best outcomes.
• I prefer to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously. While this isn’t the most common approach, it boosts my productivity.
• I sometimes rely on intuition over data, believing that not everything is explicitly revealed in the numbers, and intrinsic insights are often overlooked.

How can you help me when collaborating

• Share the direction or overview: I prefer to see the bigger picture first and spend a lot of time understanding the direction. I struggle if I don’t see how my task fits into the larger context. Please provide an overview of where we are heading.
• Confirm details: I sometimes overlook details while focusing on the bigger picture. If the details matter, please inform me once again to ensure nothing is missed.
• Alert on overfocus : I don’t mind digging into rabbit holes when it comes to problem-solving. If you think I am spending too much time on a particular phase or problem, please give me a gentle reminder.

Communication preferences

• Async-first: I value flexibility and believe it’s important for everyone to have focused time. It’s okay to communicate asynchronously about work as it allows for thoughtful responses and minimizes interruptions.
• Reserved in group settings: I tend to talk less in group settings but I am attentive and engaged, ensuring everyone’s voice is heard.
• Feedback: I am eager to improve and love receiving feedback! I prefer to get verbal feedback in one-on-one settings. If you want to receive feedback from me, please let me know in advance so I can be prepared.
• Let’s connect - social chat: I set aside time to get to know more about the people I work with. And I strive to be an active listener, valuing other people’s views and making them feel heard. Whether it’s work-related or personal, I want to learn about you as a human, and you are welcome to share about you.

Fun facts

• When I was a teenager, I was a forward in the women’s soccer player for my school. ⚽
• I cannot handle spiciness. And Buldak is definitely too much for me. 🌶️
