working with me
I'm a big fan of async communication and use it for nearly all of my work-based comms. If you have something that needs my attention, I'd like to encourage you to @
me on GitLab with a simple, what, why, and task that you would like me to do.
I love lists! Being able to distill what I am thinking into short, actionable bullet points helps me organize and streamline my thoughts. I hope this helps you too.
I employ a lot of idioms in comments. I try to put a lot of effort into not wasting your time, so pithy statements within context = efficiency in my book. If something ruffles your feathers, send me a DM and I'll quit it. My communication preferences are not as important as my relationship with you.
outside of work
I'm a homesteader who practices regenerative agriculture. My children, wife and I work the land that we live on and raise livestock. I believe this is one of the many ways to be both be a steward of the environment that we live in while also living out localist and multi-generational principles. I try to think deeply about the actions that I take today as potentially affecting my children. It's an incredibly fulfilling practice that brings stabilization and harmony to my family.
Outside of church, family and farming, I have very little time for anything else, and I'm quite glad about it. I believe these three tenants of my life are invaluable and I wouldn't give the first two up for anything. For me, people matter the most, and the relationships that we build are really what undergird life. I'm proud to work at GitLab as my values greatly intersect with GitLab's Values regarding the importance of people.
If you've made it this far, thank you for your time.
