Merging Observability and Product Analytics groups into newly formed Platform Insights group in Monitor stage: stages.yml

With the recent team restructuring, the Observability and Product Analytics teams are merging to form a new team, Platform Insights. This team will be responsible for building the foundation for custom data exploration and dashboarding, starting with data from o11y and product analytics, but shopping it to other teams so that they might also allow their customers to query data and build visualizations/dashboards that combine multiple sources. This new team will continue to support the ingestion, deployment, and purpose-built dashboards and views for observability and product analytics, but in a combined fashion.

This MR houses the first piece of that restructuring, to combine the groups and provide the scaffolding for new pages and slack channels upon review and sign off.

After Approvals and Merge

  • Create an issue in the gitlab-org/quality/triage-ops project to update GitLab Bot automation:
  • Rename Slack channels to reflect the new category/stage/group name
  • Open an MR in the gitlab-org/gitlab project to update any reference of the previous group label to the new one
  • Mention the product group Technical Writer to update the documentation metadata
  • Share MR in #product, #development, #g_engineering_analytics and relevant #s_, #g_, and #f_ Slack channels
  • Review direction pages, groups, projects, epics, issues, templates and documentation to ensure the name change is applied consistently
  • (for group change only) Update the event and metric definitions belonging to the group by following this guide
