Draft: Drop anything after a period in the OS name

This is so when we compare CVEs for resolves, rhel 8.6 and rhel 8.7 can look the same.

This is what I used in order for the resolve script to work after we updated our images to 8.7

But I'm throwing it here just to document it that this was my quick fix to get the scripts working at the time.

Instead we likely just shouldn't grab the OS information this way.
