Purpose of revert

Revert "Merge branch '365934-add-helpful-validation-message' into 'master'"

This reverts merge request !135823 (merged) since it breaks ~master (gitlab-org/quality/engineering-productivity/master-broken-incidents#4200 (closed)). I'll check with the MR again to fix failing QA specs. 🙇
