Add built in variable called __range
What does this MR do?
Add a __range
variable which will be useful in Prometheus range vector selectors.
The value of this variable will be the number of seconds in the time range of the
dashboard. For example, if the dashboard time range is set to 8 hours, the value
of __range
will be 28800s
.
Example usage:
Instead of
sum(rate(nginx_upstream_responses_total{upstream=~"{{kube_namespace}}-{{ci_environment_slug}}-.*"}[60m])) by (status_code)
we can do
sum(rate(nginx_upstream_responses_total{upstream=~"{{kube_namespace}}-{{ci_environment_slug}}-.*"}[{{__range}}])) by (status_code)
Using __range
, the query will automatically show data from the time range of the dashboard, rather than a fixed time range.
This is similar to Grafana's $__range
variable.
