Roam Ease is a hostel leave management system designed to streamline the process of handling student leave requests. Built using Android for the frontend and Django for the backend, this app allows students to request leaves, while hostel authorities can approve or reject them. The system integrates a REST API to facilitate communication between the mobile app and the backend hosted on AWS Cloud.
The app leverages JWT (JSON Web Tokens) for secure authentication, ensuring only authorized users can access sensitive features. One of the standout features is the guardian approval system, where guardians of female students receive leave approval requests via WhatsApp messages. Guardians can approve or reject the request directly through these messages, simplifying the approval process.
Key features of the app include:
Students can apply for leaves, specifying dates and reasons. Real-time notifications for students and authorities regarding the status of leave requests. Admin dashboard for hostel authorities to view and manage leave requests. Secure login and session management using JWT tokens. Cloud-hosted backend on AWS for scalability. The app follows the MVVM (Model-View-ViewModel) architecture and uses GetX for state management, ensuring a clean, maintainable codebase. The project demonstrates my skills in integrating mobile apps with backend services, cloud technologies, and secure authentication, making it an essential tool for efficient hostel management. Future enhancements include reporting features, SMS integration, and more customization based on hostel policies.
